Suffolk Print Makers: Private View
Saturday October 10th, 5.15pm - 6.30pm
We are delighted to host a group show of the Suffolk Print Makers, a collective of 6 artists from Suffolk, making prints in various styles. The evening will be introduced by Rosanna McLaughlin, editor of The Royal Academy Magazine.
Please join us for a glass of wine and a private view of the work. Entrance is free, but please register for a ticket so we know how many to expect.

About the artists
Kate Mawdsley worked as a commercial illustrator for over 30 years designing all things from mugs to jigsaw puzzles. Her images have been published worldwide. She has recently taken up printmaking which has given her the opportunity to return to a more hands on style of work. Kate particularly enjoys creating images of the coastal area and wildlife.
Julie Scarr is a Fine Art graduate who spent most of her working life as an artist, lecturer and curator. In her ten years of living in Suffolk she has become more interested in printmaking and joined Sudbourne Park Printmakers just before lockdown. She often works on the impressive Columbian press there in order to create large scale relief prints.
Sara McLaughlin is a potter and printmaker. Born in Coventry and the daughter of an artist she learnt to paint and draw from an early age. After moving to London to pursue a long career in refugee education and bringing up a family, she made the decision to focus on her art more seriously, completing a Fine Art foundation course at City Lit in London. She was also a member of the Phoenix pottery group in Islington for many years. She now has a pottery studio at her home in Suffolk, making a variety of functional ceramic forms.
She is also a member of Sudbourne Park Printmakers where she is focussed on etching. She exhibits her work widely and enjoys sharing ideas and exhibitions with other artists.
Jo Lea graduated from Exeter University with a degree in Fine Art and English and continued a life drawing practice alongside a career in education and raising a family. More recently, she has undertaken two year-long courses at Newlyn School of Art and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Creative Practice. Her printmaking grows from a longstanding interest in the human figure and the experiences that shape us. Working particularly with etching and monotype, she explores how form can emerge through line, tone and the removal or retention of ink.
Anna Toppin studied Fine Art at Wimbledon and Goldsmiths, leading to a career as a Set Designer with London Weekend Television. Introduced to etching by a friend she joined Sudbourne Park Printmakers 10 years ago. Her images, etchings and paintings, range from Kimono to Nelson’s jacket and subjects influenced by travelling to Japan, Cambodia and Brazil. Colour is of great importance and she is happy to work to commission.
Cherry Sandford. After studying Fine Art at Portsmouth Polytechnic, Cherry gained a BSc in Landscape Design and Conservation at the University of East Anglia. She then worked as a Landscape Designer for over 20 years. Cherry first studied printmaking at the Curwen Print Study Centre, where she gained a certificate a Fine Art printmaking and then joined the printmaking group ‘5 Print’ with access to the Curwen for the next couple of years.
She is now a member of Sudbourne Park Printmakers where she continue her journey in etching and relief printing.
